Anime, Manga, and Japanese Tea Ceremony!

We're having a very Japanese week next week!  First, on Wednesday we're showing a Japanese animated movie, or Anime movie.  The movie we're showing is Metropolis.  Here is the DVD cover ~

Metropolis is a story of a young boy and his uncle (a private investigator). The story is set in the far future where humans and robots live together, unfortunately not in harmony. Many robots are forced underground and are terminated for entering unauthorized areas. They are more or less servants to humankind. The plot starts to unfold when the boy meets a robot named Tima and they get in all kinds of trouble. Never a dull moment when you've got a robot by your side.

Oh, and here is a movie trailer for you!

Looks exciting right?  Ok so we're showing this movie on Wednesday the 13th at 6:00.  We'll have popcorn and refreshments!

Next up is the Manga Discussion and Tea tasting the next day (Thursday) at 2:00.  We're going to be discussion our favorite Japanese graphic novels, or Mangas.  Also, we'll be having our own little tea ceremony!  You may have seen this in some mangas that you have read, or seen in some anime.  It is also called the Way of Tea, and is not only the drinking of the tea, but its the preparation and presentation of it too.  For us, we'll just be making it the best we can and tasting it!

You might be saying, so what?  I've drank tea before, no big deal.  But this is different!  We'll be making and drinking matcha, which is a powdered green tea.  Here's a pic to give you an idea:

Just look at the crazy green color!  How awesome is that?  Guys and girls, I am really excited to try this!  And I hope you are too.

If you want to learn more about the Way of Tea, here are some links for you~

I hope you guys and girls are as excited for next week as I am!  The movie is drop in, no need to register, but if you'd like to come to the manga discussion and tea tasting, please register.  You can register by coming into the library, calling the library, or emailing me!  Email me here -> Miss Gardiner's Email Addy
