First Day of School!

Today is the first day of the 2015-2016 school year for RSD13 students.  I hope you have a good one, guys and gals!

Remember that the library is here for you!

Please do...

Check out books, audiobooks, graphic novels, movies, tv, music, video games, and magazines.

Use the tables throughout the library to work on schoolwork.  Homework supplies (extra paper, hilighters, colored pencils, rulers, markers, tape, glue, etc) are available at the front desk.

Use the computers for homework or entertainment.  There are also laptops in the Teen Lounge.  Don't forget we have downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, and magazine for your devices!

Sign up for teen programs!  This month: Paracord Survival Bracelets on the 17th and a Practice SAT on the 19th.

Ask for help!  Your librarians are:
Karyn Leahy, Young Adult Librarian
Christine Michaud, Children's Librarian
Trish Connolly, Library Director
Cyndi Shirshac, Assistant Director
Feel free to ask Diana, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Carol, & Patti your questions at the front desk!

The Library welcomes young adults ages 12 and up to come to the library after school to read, study, and socialize.  However, please keep in mind these rules:

1.  No food is permitted in the library.  Drinks with a top are permitted.
2.  No PDA is permitted. This includes kissing & sitting on laps.
3.  No loitering by the front door.
4.  Conversation in a quietly normal volume is permitted.  No conversation is permitted in the marked quiet areas.  Louder conversation is permitted in the Teen Lounge weekdays 2:30-5:00pm
5.  No throwing, pushing, grabbing, jumping, or running.
6. Swearing and inappropriate talk is not  permitted.

9.  Running, playing, and skateboarding are not permitted in our parking lot.  Remember that all previous rules apply on the library grounds as well as inside the library.
10.  If you violate the rules you WILL be asked to leave for the day.  If the staff can not determine the person responsible in a group, the entire group will get a warning or be asked to leave.  Teens who need to wait for a ride will wait in the Director's Office.  The Library staff reserves the right to ask any person to leave if they determine it is needed.

Summer Reading Program Preview!

Heya YAs!  The start of the Summer Reading Program is only 2 weeks away!  Here's your preview of whats going on this year.

Reading

You will still get a raffle ticket for reading at least one book every week.  However, you can now earn up to 3 more raffle tickets every week!  That means you can get up to 4 tickets with your name on them in every weekly drawing.  So here are the other three ways you can earn raffle tickets:

1. Attend at least one program that week (you can't get additional tickets for attending more than one, sorry, just 1 per week!)
2. Submit at least one photograph to the Night Time Photography Show (Again, only 1 ticket.  But feel free to submit multiple photographs!  The picture will be displayed at the library later in the summer)
3. Write a book review for the Teen Blog.

Now all of that is just super right...if the prizes are good.  So what are the prizes?

Week 1
Two $10 Gift Certificates to Dari Serv
Week 2
Two $10 Carmines Pizza Gift Certificates
Week 3
Digital Waterproof Camera
Week 4
Hunger Games Beach Towel
Week 5
Three $10 iTunes Gift Cards
Week 6
Everyone who participates in week 6 will get a book of their choice!
So, those are some decent prizes, right?  I hope you like them :)
