The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime is not your typical fiction book. The perspective which it was written is an amazing angle in my opinion. I think Christopher¿s point of view is very interesting, especially knowing he is the same age as me, 15. Christopher, being autistic, is a very smart young boy who is very close to animals, but can only relate to a few humans, and still not very well at that. He is very good at math and things that are logical, but has a very hard time understanding things like jokes, metaphors, and facial expressions. The journeys and adventures this teenage boy goes on are unrealistic after knowing and understanding his condition. I loved the way this book showed them and how simple and too the point it was. I think through this book the author was trying to show exactly what goes on in autistic children¿s minds each and every day. This is a perfect book to read to better understand this well-known condition.
I think you meant realistic. I am Autistic and love reading this book as i can relate his traits to mine. His journeys are very realistic as, being Autistic, he is wary and frightened of his surroundings. He also plays a mind game at the cafe and i certainly can think my own thoughts for hours on end, having done so before. Running away from his father after he knows he is bad is also what I would do. Making a line across the floor in his mind to make him less aware of his surroundings. Now I wouldn't do the line on floor thing but I do a similar thing. I concentrate on the persons feet in front of me and step when they step to keep myself from falling behind.
Of course its a nice book. But there is a point to note about author's writing style. Presenting some cool information to make it interesting. So aside the main story the information provided in this book also amazing. This is one of the styles to write Popular books.
