What to do during April Vacation?

YEAH!  Vacation time is here...at least for you guys!  Catch up on your sleep first...but then what else will  you do?  There's video games and TV but maybe you're looking for some other ideas.  Well no fear, Miss Gardiner is here!  Here are my ideas for what you can do over April Vacation~

1.  Read (sorry I have to start with this one!  It's like a rule of being a librarian)  Come to the library and pick out a book or 6.  Don't know what to read next?  Ask me!  Don't want to talk to me face to face?  (what?  do I smell?)  NO PROBLEM!  Check out the fancy dancy new Book Recommendation tab here on this blog, third tab on the top.

2. Use one of the library's discount museum passes!  Here are the ones we have:
Children's Museum & Roaring Brook Nature Center (one free admission with one paid admission, max 4 free),
 Florence Griswold Museum (discounted admission),
Maritime Aquarium (2$ off),
Connecticut State Parks (free admission),
Connecticut's Old State House (free admission),
New Britain Museum of American Art (free admission),
Wadsworth Atheneum (free admission),
Mark Twain House and Museum (buy one, get one free admission),
Mashantucket Pequot Museum (5$ off),
 Mystic Aquarium (discounted admission),
Connecticut River Museum (half price admission),
Peabody Museum (5$ off),
New England Air Museum (5$ off, 11 and under free),
Mystic Seaport (half price admission

Library museum passes check out for 2 days.  If they are late there is a 5$ per day fine, so bring them back on time!  You must have an adult card (ages 14 and up) to check one out.  You may only take 1 at a time.

3. Other random ideas~

Go on a seal watch tour - http://thimbleislandcruise.com/ 15$/adult 10$/kids 12 and under
Go on a bird watching walk at Hammonasset State Park - only 4$!  http://www.ctvisit.com/Events/Summary?eventId=8774
Check out some flea markets or yard sales and use what you find to make a craft
Start some seeds and get a head start on your summer garden
Clean your room/car
Bake cookies
Go fishing - fishing season starts Saturday the 21st and you will need a fishing license if you are 16 or older.  It will cost you $28 and you can get it at the town hall or online here

Thats all I can think of for the moment...if you have any suggestions, I'd love to have your comment!
