Where to Learn Coding & Programming Online (for FREE!)

Learn how to code games, apps and websites with fun and effective interactive games. HTML, CSS and JavaScript tutorials are for beginners.

Scratch is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations.

Lightbot is great fun and does a surprisingly thorough job of introducing some pretty complex principles of programming.
Lightbot offers an easy way for kids to learn concepts like loops, if-then statements, and the like without typing or coding.

Codecademy is an online interactive platform that offers free coding classes in 9 different programming languages including Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript (jQuery, AngularJS), and Ruby, as well as markup languages HTML and CSS. The platform also provides courses for learning command line and Git.

Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan with the aim of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. The organization produces short lectures in the form of YouTube videos. In addition to micro lectures, the organization's website features practice exercises and tools for educators. All resources are available for free to anyone around the world.
