Welcome to Zinio, the newest digital
offering from the library! This packet
will tell you all about Zinio and walk you through the sign up process.
What is Zinio?
Zinio is the
world’s largest newsstand! It offers
full color, interactive digital magazines for your enjoyment. Browse the large collection of magazines for
you to check out and there are NO HOLDS, NO DUE DATE, and NO LIMIT to how many
you can download!

Current
Issues – New Issues are released and ready for download at the same time as the
print edition, sometimes even before the library gets the print edition!
·
Easy
browsing – Browse the library’s collection of titles, search for your favorite,
or check out the convenient category feature to find more you might be interested
in.
·
Manage
your collection – Using the personal account you will create, you will have the
opportunity to check out the magazines you choose and read them instantly on
your computer, or access the content on a portable media device, such as a smart
phone, tablet, or color e-reader! (Note:
viewing options, including the ability to download or view the content while
online may differ based on the device and/or publisher)

No
Limits – Check out as many issues as your want and keep them in your account as
long as you want!

To view LION’s
Zinio collection, go to:
Zinio can also be accessed from the Durham
Library home page and the online library catalog.
**If you are accessing
Zinio on a mobile device like an iPad, there is a Zinio App for you to
download**
Start by clicking “Create New Account”
on the top right.
Enter your 14 digit Patron Library
Card Number in the box and click “Next.”
Enter the requested information, and
then click “Create Account.”
(Password must have at least 7 characters &
include letters and numbers)
Now you are logged in to LION
Zinio. Start by clicking “Browse
Magazines.”
Now, there is ONE MORE STEP to signing up!
But first you need to find a magazine to checkout. Here is the screen we see now:
For my instructions, I am going to
check out 100 Best Cookies. You can pick any magazine you want. Underneath the magazine click on “Checkout
Now,” which I’ve put a red arrow next to.
You’ll get a confirmation that you
have checked the magazine out. Click “Start
Reading” and we’ll do our last set up step.
Click “Sign Up” up at the top. DO NOT click “New User? Sign up here,” because
it brings you to the wrong page.
Enter your information. Be sure that you use the SAME EMAIL ADDRESS
that you used in the first sign up.
Now click “Go to Library” to start
reading your magazine.
There is my magazine! Click directly on the cover to start reading.
After a short loading page, your
magazine comes up, along with a handy tutorial on the left on how to navigate
the magazine.
